A poem that speaks to us, our Africa...
My heart bleeds for the land of my soul…
Endowed with the finest minerals on Mother Earth,
From Cape to Cairo
Our Diamonds, Gold, Tanzanite, Cobalt
Speak of world resident,
Yet, this yoke of darkness remains a heavy burden.
Not yet Uhuru
Letha Mbuli reminded us,
Freedom beckons from afar
But we continue to celebrate you,
Glorious Afrika!
They cannot silence you,
Live.
We will wear our black badge of Afrika
Afrika my beginning, the cradle of humankind
Afrika land of my skull
Let history celebrate your glorious histories.
We celebrate your beauty - Uzuri waAfrika
Of the Kingdoms of Kush and the Nubia,
The architectural prowess of Giza and,
Dzimba Dzemambwe, The house of Stone
Let Africa recite the explorative glories of,
Mansa Musa, the conqueror of Ganata,
Mbuya Nehanda and, Queen Lozikeyi of Zimbabwe
Queen Nandi, Queen Makeda
We salute.
Today we will sing songs of your glory,
Madam Sirleaf Johnson
Wangari Maathai
Madam Mathayi
Winnie Madikizela Mandela
Graca Machel
The world embraces the tales of your glory
The world forgets not
The glories of my grand mama
And multitudes of gallant women whose hustle is looted by those in authority
Resistance is us
We are resistance!
Glory, as I whisper to you, today…
Let history not whitewash the glorious battle tales
Of your sons and daughters
The Dahomey Amazon Warriors
Our Mino mothers of Benin
Dispel the myth of sun-scorched backs and forever-cracked heels
We will sing songs of Glory,
Resilience.
Tenacity.
Opulence.
Glory.
